Title: "Church and Houses Tarnovo" ("Curkva i kashty Tarnovo") Artist: Zhaklina Yamelieva Technique: Oil painting on canvas, executed with oil paints and palette knife.
Concept & Narrative: The canvas "Church and Houses Tarnovo" by Zhaklina Yamelieva captures the iconic amphitheater layout of the old Bulgarian capital, Veliko Tarnovo, where historic houses nestle vertically above one another. Guided by the philosophy of Ascension and The Fall, the lower stone foundations and layered historic hillside represent earthly endurance, physical existence, and material gravity (The Fall). In uplifting contrast, the vertical rhythm of the traditional architecture, the ascending church silhouette, and the bright blue sky depict spiritual aspiration, enduring faith, and the soul's victorious Ascension toward light and heritage.
Style & Execution: Poetic and expressive oil painting technique. The vertical composition emphasizes the rhythmic cascade of Tarnovo's facades and terracotta rooftops. The refined palette harmonizes warm ochre and terracotta reds, sunny yellow, pearl white, pastel blue, and fresh spring greens in the foreground.
Why Invest: • Historic Elegance & Heritage: A vibrant Bulgarian Revival landscape bringing warmth, romantic atmosphere, and cultural pride to executive and residential interiors. • Museum-Grade Quality: Crafted using top-tier European oil paints on premium canvas. • Textural Painting Mastery: Dynamic brush and palette knife work capturing light and architectural warmth from every angle.
