"Kaleto" is the name of a hill, which today is located on the outskirts of the town of Elena, and in the past was above the town. It is so called because during the Kurdzhali there was a fortress. In its highest part there was a post that watched for the approach of the Kurds. If he noticed such, the fast sounded the alarm and all the churches began to ring their bells. This was a signal for the deer to go to the Fortress as soon as possible to defend themselves against the robbers. After the end of Kardzhali, the fortress was used as a Turkish barracks, but gradually began to fall down. In 1836 during the construction of the church "Assumption of the Blessed Virgin" material from the destroyed fortress was used. Currently, Kaleto is a park without any remaining fortress walls from the former kale.
