Title: "Winter Church in Veliko Tarnovo" ("Zimna zurkwa wuw Veliko Tarnovo")
Artist: Marchel Yameliev
Technique: Oil painting on canvas, executed with palette knives (3D impasto technique).
Concept & Narrative: The canvas "Winter Church in Veliko Tarnovo" by Marchel Yameliev constructs a striking vertical composition of the old Bulgarian capital, crowned by a historic church beneath a serene winter sky. Guided by the philosophy of Ascension and The Fall, the heavy rocky cliffs and ground-bound traditional houses symbolize physical matter, endurance through winter elements, and human roots (The Fall). In radiant contrast, the ascending rhythm of the architecture, snow-covered roofs, and the church dome rising toward the sky embody spiritual hope, faith, and the victorious Ascension of the soul toward divine light.
Style & Execution: Sculptural 3D impasto palette knife artistry. Thick, tactile oil layers give tangible form to the steep rock faces, snow drifts, and timber facades. The color palette harmonizes crisp whites, warm ochres, timber browns, and deep indigo-violet shadows.
Why Invest: • Architectural Elevation & Heritage: A powerful vertical cityscape bringing majesty, historical depth, and refined harmony to fine art collections. • Museum-Grade Quality: Crafted using top-tier European oil paints on premium canvas. • Over 40 Years of Impasto Mastery: Sculptural 3D texture catching ambient light dynamically from every angle.
